Delete Your Sonaara Account
We're sorry to see you go! This page explains how to request deletion of your Sonaara account and what happens to your data.
How to Request Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your Sonaara account through either of these methods:
Method 1: Through the Sonaara App
- Open the Sonaara mobile app
- Go to your Profile
- Tap on Settings (gear icon)
- Scroll down and tap "Account Settings"
- Tap "Delete Account"
- Read the information about what will be deleted
- Confirm by entering your password
- Tap "Delete My Account" to confirm
⚠️ Note: Account deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. Make sure you want to permanently delete your account before proceeding.
Method 2: Email Request
If you cannot access the app or prefer to request deletion via email:
- Send an email to support@sonaara.com
- Use the subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
- Include the following information:
- Your full name
- The email address or phone number associated with your account
- Reason for deletion (optional but helpful)
- We will verify your identity and process your request within 30 days
- You will receive a confirmation email once your account has been deleted
What Data is Deleted
When you delete your Sonaara account, the following information is permanently removed from our active systems:
- ✓Profile Information: Your name, bio, profile photos, and preferences
- ✓Account Credentials: Email address, phone number, and authentication data
- ✓Location Data: Your saved locations and location history
- ✓Pings: All user pings you created (business pings may be retained - see below)
- ✓Messages: Your sent and received messages
- ✓Photos and Media: Photos you uploaded to your profile or pings
- ✓Preferences and Settings: App settings, notifications, and filters
- ✓Connections: Your matches, interested users, and connection history
What Data May Be Retained
Certain information may be retained for legitimate business, legal, or security reasons:
Retained for Legal Compliance (Up to 7 years)
- •Transaction Records: If you made purchases or payments through Sonaara
- •Reports and Violations: Records of reported content, safety incidents, or Terms of Service violations
- •Legal Requests: Information subject to legal holds, court orders, or ongoing investigations
Retained for Business Operations (Up to 90 days)
- •Backup Systems: Data in backup systems is deleted within 90 days of account deletion
- •Business Pings: If you're a verified business, your business pings may remain visible but will be anonymized (your personal profile will be removed)
- •Cached Data: Some data may remain in caches or CDNs temporarily until cleared
Anonymized and Aggregated Data (Indefinitely)
- •Analytics Data: De-identified data used for analytics, research, and improving our services (cannot be linked back to you)
- •Aggregated Statistics: Aggregate metrics about app usage that do not identify individual users

⚠️ Important Information
- •Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. You will lose access to all your data, connections, and pings.
- •You cannot recover your account once it has been deleted. You would need to create a new account to use Sonaara again.
- •Active subscriptions: If you have an active subscription, please cancel it before deleting your account to avoid future charges.
- •Messages to other users: While your account will be deleted, messages you sent to other users may remain in their message history (displayed as "Deleted User").
Alternatives to Account Deletion
Before you delete your account, consider these alternatives:
- →Pause Your Account:
Temporarily hide your profile from other users while keeping your data intact. You can reactivate anytime.
- →Adjust Privacy Settings:
Control who can see your profile and what information is visible.
- →Update Preferences:
Change your location preferences, notification settings, or matching criteria.
